Trading software developer MetaQuotes will roll out a MetaTrader 4 (MT4) platform update on Friday, December 10, 2021.
This build provides the following changes:
- The minimum supported desktop client terminal version has been increased to 1340. Older terminals will not be able to connect to updated broker servers.
- General fixes and platform stability improvements.
- Error fixes based on crash reports.
The update will be available through the Live Update system.
The preceding build of MT4 was released on July 23, 2021. That version provided error fixes and platform stability improvements.
MetaQuotes has recently focused on the MT5 platform. In November, the company published information showing that MT5 trading server utilization by brokers has increased by a factor of 1.5x, compared to the previous platform version ones.
According to MetaQuotes’ latest study, the percent utilization of the MT4 servers has dropped to 36.7%. The company said that this is an expected dynamic change: back in June 2021, MetaQuotes reported that MT5 had become more popular than MT4 among brokerage companies, and the trend has been increasing since then.
