Social trading focused brokerage startup Public.com has announced a new sponsorship deal with the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL), in which Public.com has been named the official investing app of the PLL. This is Public.com’s first professional sports partnership deal at the league level.
“The lacrosse and investing communities share a common history of exclusivity and homogeneity,” said PLL Co-Founder and CEO Michael Rabil. “Public.com is changing the game for the next generation of investors by creating an inclusive and educational space for all and a 1MM+ member community that is 40% women and 45% BIPOC.”
As part of the partnership, six PLL athletes will join Public’s app and will be participating in the Public community, which emphasizes education and allows people to build their confidence alongside friends and other investors. PLL Co-Founder and CMO Paul Rabil is already active on the app with over 350,000 followers.
“We share the PLL’s commitment to inclusion and equity in the sport of lacrosse and beyond—and we look forward to bringing our communities together around these shared values,” said Katie Perry, VP of Marketing at Public.com. “At Public, we’re building a mass-consumer investing app, so we’re excited to reach this new community of PLL’s passionate fans.”
Additionally, Public and the PLL are hosting a sweepstakes in which one lucky fan will win $10,000 to invest in the Public app. Public and the PLL are also launching a web series with PLL host RJ Kaminski, in which Co-Founders Michael and Paul Rabil will educate RJ, a new investor, on the ins and outs of long-term investing.
