National Australia Bank Limited (NAB) today announced the appointment of James Spenceley as a non-executive director of NAB, effective 1 December 2021.
Mr Spenceley is the founder and former CEO of Vocus Communications, Australia’s fourth largest telecommunications company, which was recently purchased by Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA). Mr Spenceley is currently Chair of two ASX listed companies, Airtasker Limited (ASX: ART) and Swoop Holdings Limited (ASX: SWP), and a non-executive director on the boards of two ASX listed companies, Kogan.com (ASX: KGN) and Think Childcare Limited (ASX: TNK).
Mr Spenceley said:
“I’ve spent all my life building and growing challenger businesses. It is a genuinely exciting opportunity to bring that experience and perspective to an established organisation with all the strength, history and scale of NAB. This is an ideal time to be joining the NAB Board as the organisation has significant opportunities ahead during a period where the financial services industry is in the middle of dramatic global change.”
Mr Spenceley founded Vocus Communications in 2007 and has been a venture capital investor and advisor to many Australian household brands. He is one of the youngest Australians to found and lead an ASX100 company and was twice named an Ernst and Young Australian Entrepreneur of the Year winner (Young and Listed categories).
His appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
