BNP Paribas today announces that it has signed a referral agreement with Credit Suisse to support their Prime Services and Derivatives Clearing customers in their selection of alternative providers for such services, in order to ensure a smooth migration of Credit Suisse business in the context of its recently announced exit from Prime Services activities.
Credit Suisse will support affected customers as they select alternative Prime Services providers of their choice. If customers seek to benefit from the referral agreement between BNP Paribas and Credit Suisse, there will be a streamlined process in place to facilitate them obtaining Prime Services from BNP Paribas, under its terms.
Let’s recall that, on November 4, 2021, Credit Suisse announced a new Group strategy. The new objectives involve reshaping the Investment Bank by reducing more than USD 3 billion, or ~25%, of capital by exiting Prime Services (with the exception of Index Access and APAC Delta One) over 2021 to 2022, while investing in the businesses where there are clear competitive advantages as well as those that are capital-light advisory-driven and/or have connectivity to Wealth Management.
Credit Suisse also plans to redeploy additional capital of approximately CHF 3 billion to the Wealth Management division by 2024, a 25% increase, with an ambition to grow client business volume to about CHF 1.6 trillion and assets under management to about CHF 1.1 trillion, to deliver incremental recurring revenues of >CHF 1 billion by 2024; this will be supported by growth investments including ~500 new Relationship Managers and ~60% step-up in technology investments by 2024.
