Standard Chartered PLC today announces an update to its Group Management Team.
Mary Huen, Cluster Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau, and CEO of Standard Chartered Hong Kong will join the Group Management Team, effective immediately. She will continue to report to Ben Hung, CEO Asia.
Bill Winters, Group Chief Executive, Standard Chartered Bank, said:
“As we reflect on how we should shape our Management Team to best execute on our strategic agenda, we concluded that we will strengthen the voice of our clients in our strategic decision-making process. With that in mind, I am pleased to have Mary join the Management Team.
She brings a wealth of experience and rich market expertise, having run our largest market Hong Kong successfully. I look forward to her playing an active role in the Bank’s leadership moving forward.”
Mary Huen has over 30 years of experience in business management and banking services. Since joining Standard Chartered in 1991, she has held leadership positions across wealth management, sales and product management.
Prior to her current role, Mary Huen was Regional Head of Retail Banking, Greater China & North Asia, and the Head of Retail Banking, Hong Kong. She is a board member of Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited and Standard Chartered Bank (Taiwan) Limited. She is also Chairperson of the Board of Mox Bank Limited.
Standard Chartered says this change underscores the significance of the Asia region, and that of the Bank’s Hong Kong franchise to the Group as the largest market, representing 30% of its profit. Hong Kong is a key part of the Bank’s Greater China growth strategy, including the Greater Bay Area.
Hong Kong has also been central to the Bank’s progress on customer service through digitisation, most notably the establishment of Mox as the leading digital bank in Asia.
